The Starfish Story
A young man is walking along the ocean and sees a beach on which thousands and thousands of starfish have washed ashore. Further along he sees an old man, walking slowly and stooping often, picking up one starfish after another and tossing each one gently into the ocean.
“Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?,” he asks.
“Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I don’t throw them further in they will die.”
“But, old man, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it! You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t even save one-tenth of them. In fact, even if you work all day, your efforts won’t make any difference at all.”
The old man listened calmly and then bent down to pick up another starfish and threw it into the sea. “It made a difference to that one.”
YOUR ACTIONS ARE IMPORTANT ~
One by one, our actions speak loud to someone
I love the outlook of this old man, he knew the importance of helping one starfish at a time. We can relate to this by our own example to someone else. We can be world changers, but it starts with us. Each of us who can see the value of who we are and where we are going in life. We need God, just like the starfish needs the water. The Starfish didn't have the ability to get back into the water without a huge wave or a person who was able to toss it back into the water. Just a little help can save a life.
We have each gone through things in life and we need that helping hand of someone else. A little bit of encouragement goes a long way. It is time to stay positive and if you see a friend who needs help, one sentence can be a life changer for them. It is a great feeling knowing that God uses our lives and helps others to move forward.
As I write this blog daily to you, I believe in what I write and I know that God is a miracle worker. I know the importance of holding onto hope in a new day. Sometimes we look at one picture too long and get the feeling that nothing will change. I have a personal story that holding onto God and just not giving up, does bring change. I started my blog (you-don't-even-know) because I know that someone needs the words I felt led to write.
I know that God uses people in different ways and I have felt like that Starfish upon the sands of life. Waves comes, they bring change and I needed someone to pray for me. Now it's my turn, to give back and pray for you, your family and friends. I care and I hope you can feel that through the ways on one page daily. God is present and he cares too!
Isaiah 43:19New International Version (NIV)See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
We must come to the end of something, in order to begin something new!
