Dictionary: Labor Day
(in the U.S.) a legal holiday, commonly the first Monday in September, in honor of labor.
Throughout time, we have learned to work to take care of ourselves and others. Many people have today off and enjoy time to rest on this day we call, "Labor Day". It is a long weekend for many and off people go with those they care about in life.
Psalm 90:17 (NIV)
May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.
WORK ~ REST
Genesis 2:3 (NIV)
Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
What helps you rest in this life?
I find my rest comes from my peace of mind and renewing it.
Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)A Living SacrificeTherefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Finally, God rested in the work her did and shows us by example:
Genesis 2:2-3 (NIV)
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
On the day we call Labor Day, find rest in your body, soul and mind. Find that God has created you on your day (birthday) and even far beyond that day. He knows the plans he has for you and will prosper you as your soul prospers. Be careful and take care of you. Your life shines far greater than you know and he will make a way where their seems to be no way. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
