YES, GOD wants us to forgive!
As Jesus forgave people, he also healed people.
Matthew 9 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man
9 Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. 2 Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.”
3 At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”
4 Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?5 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.
When God speaks, it is happens!
Humans have issues forgetting things and God never reminds us of our mistakes or failures in life. His plan is much larger and he wants us to trust him in all seasons of our lives. People throughout the Bible needed to believe and hold on by trusting words they heard about Jesus and even saw. A miracle worker that walked this earth to help others. A miracle worker that still does miracles in our day and time of life.
Yesterday I was talking with someone that took my mind back to a time I don't like to remember. It was huge flashback of life. I had two choices after we began a conversation. One, to stay in the flashback and feel sadness or two, more into new thinking of now. God forgives and forgets. Crazy how our memories can take right back to a ugly place of life. It is a new mindset that matters and realizing how far God has brought you from in life. Maybe you are at the beginning of getting over something and it seems impossible. I am here to tell you that nothing is impossible with God. He wants to restore lives and set you on a new path.
Sometimes it is hard to forgive yourself over something. Maybe just something you said and wished you had never said it. The mouth often speaks before the brain works. I've been there too in life and now I do my best to stop to think before I speak. I often think of how that might make me feel and then I don't say it.
There comes a time when life needs to be full of joy and happiness. Be careful how you spend your time and what you think about in your now. Stir up some great thoughts and rest in knowing that God is at work in your life even if you don't feel it. Once you ask Jesus into your heart, all things become new. It is a process of change and may take time to work through somethings. He is a friend, a real friend and he listens and speaks to us in many ways.
Yesterday, my husband Terry had surgery on his knee. A full knee replacement and many people told me it wasn't a big deal. But I have learned that it is a big deal when it happens to you. Our minds wonder and feel a little scared entering the unknown room of surgery. The outcome and how his leg will work again. But he was brave and moved forward with the surgery. This morning he is in pain and will walk for the first time. I find it crazy how we face some many new things in life. Each of us deal with things different and must remind ourselves that God is the one in control of our lives, not us.
