We give honor to men and women who served our country in the Military. Giving of their lives to protect us and sacrifices of not seeing their family and friends. What a great month to give thanks to each one of them and their family. November is a month of thanksgiving and honor to those still serving too. Taking time to say thank you for serving and memories of those who did run through my mind.
My dad (ED) served in World War II and didn't really talk about things he saw. He died in his early 50's. I honor him for serving our country and also being my dad.
My mom (Alice) met another man (IRWIN) who served in world war II also. They didn't meet until their 80's in an assistant living place. Irwin would talk about life in the military in the war. He disliked days like July 4th or veterans day. He said it reminded him of things he saw which brought him to tears. So much death during the war and things that never went away inside his mind. He would say, he didn't want to be reminded of days of war. He explained somethings to me and then you saw tears in his eyes. Was War War II really over, because it was alive inside of his mind. I give him to him and others who continue to see things in their minds from serving our country. Let us not forget to pray for people of all ages who continue to serve our country.
VETERANS DAY ~
Let us give praise and thanks to so many people who served and continue to serve our country.
1 Chronicles 16:34-36 New International Version (NIV)
34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
35 Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
and glory in your praise.”
36 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the Lord.”
There comes a time when we praise God for all things. It is through the hard things that molds us. People watch how we handle things and let us not forget that God is right here. No matter what we do or where we have been in life, God remains the same. HIs power is real and we call upon his name for help. Praying is talking to God. Not always asking or sharing a real connection with God.
VETERANS DAY ~
Giving thanks to all Veterans who continue to serve our country.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 New International Version (NIV)
give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
This is also a holiday for our country. Federal, State, County and City offices are closed. Banks closed and Post Offices too. No mail delivery today. Taking time to honor our men and women. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
Today also marks a celebration of live service for my mom's friend Jessie. I was just a kid when they met and I received a call from her son (Scott) to tell me the news. My prayers are with her husband and her family as they celebrate one great woman. We never know what someone goes through in one day, praying for each other is important. Sending my love and prayers on this hard day.
