I love the movie "ELF". One of the parts I remember, is when Elf realizes something is said and it is a lie. He speaks out, "you sit on a throne of lies." It is a funny movie, but hold many truths. A lie is totally a lie. Elf had been shelter from many things in the world and he only knew Papa Elf. Guidance and his leadership grew Elf into a person who wanted to know his father. The search begins and he find outs his father isn't on the nice list, but the bad list.
Bible ~ speaks about a loving God and a devil who tries to destroy your life by words. The devil plants thoughts in your life and you believe it. It becomes time to let the lies go about you. In the Bible it speaks of Adam and Eve. Two people who knew to do right, but suddenly came captive on the thoughts of the devil.
Genesis 3 New Living Translation (NLT)
The Man and Woman Sin
3 The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
2 “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. 3 “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’”
4 “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. 5 “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. 7 At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.
THE DEVIL ~ sits on the a Thorn of Lies
Suddenly the devil appears after God spoke to Adam and Eve. He was able to turn their thoughts from the positive ones, but the one he wanted them to hear. He told Eve, "you won't die!" . Once she listen, it became action and her life was done. Totally destroyed by listening to the devil and needing now help to change her back again. Wow the consequences of not following God is huge.
God came back to them and the story continues of Genesis Chapter 1. You can read it and see the pain caused by one woman and one man not obeying the voice of God. Their one choice affected generations to come. Consequences and yet freedom in many ways.
If we could only see the devil is out to trick our lives. He has a way of making something bad, look good. Then sin enters our lives and we tend to blame other. Taking ownership of our own choices is so important. Recognize that the devil does not want you to succeed on anything. He wants us to stop in the beginning and never seignior purpose come to past.
Think before you act!
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
