Jeremiah 1:4-19 (NIV)
The Call of Jeremiah
4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
11 The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?”
“I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.
12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching[b] to see that my word is fulfilled.”
13 The word of the Lord came to me again: “What do you see?”
“I see a pot that is boiling,” I answered. “It is tilting toward us from the north.”
14 The Lord said to me, “From the north disaster will be poured out on all who live in the land. 15 I am about to summon all the peoples of the northern kingdoms,” declares the Lord.
“Their kings will come and set up their thrones
in the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem;
they will come against all her surrounding walls
and against all the towns of Judah.
16 I will pronounce my judgments on my people
because of their wickedness in forsaking me,
in burning incense to other gods
and in worshiping what their hands have made.
17 “Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them. 18 Today I have made you a fortified city, an iron pillar and a bronze wall to stand against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests and the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
THE CALL OF JEREMIAH ~
Is amazing and much like our lives. We are a plan of God and he created us for purpose, just like Jeremiah. We can relate and we move forward into the plan of God. Each day holds something different for us and yet the same. God word is true and amen! God said in verse 17 Get yourself ready! Stand up and say to them whatever I command you. Do not be terrified by them, or I will terrify you before them.
I believe this verse shows us that God wanted him to see the power behind what he was to do. A trust in God and beyond limits. We might feel that tug on our heart to call someone, text them or share time with them. You might feel that tug, but then you get busy and don't do it. Somethings God wants us to do is simple and easy, but our lives are full of busyness. Distractions come our way and lead us away from the plan of God in our own lives. Let us be careful to listen to that still small voice or tug inside our hearts. Following God is easier if we spend TIME with him. Yes, there was a call on Jeremiah's life, but there is also a call on YOUR life too!
I will never forget the first time I was ask to teach a book our own church in Women's Ministry. I was sacred, but I did it anyway. Now over 10 years later, I'm still teaching and loving it. I show my struggles, my tears and my joys of life. It's all mixed together for each of us. We are connected through this website by words, but also by the power of God. I believe guides me in words to say and prayers for each one who reads this. I truly care and I value your time. I do my best to keep this reading under 3 minutes today. I hope you will join my blog and spread the good news to others. I don't know it all, but I have said YES to God and that is a good beginning each day.
THE PLAN ~ starting a foundation build upon the name of Jesus and taking life day by day. Pressing toward him is a learning about him and living it. It's not always easy, but when we have friends who are connected too, there is a much larger picture of life. A friend who sticks by you through all things and that is what real friendship is.
My prayers are with you, your family and friends!
