Jesus’ Teaching on Prayer
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.’”
5 Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6 a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ 7 And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ 8 I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
THE STRONG YOU ~
Super heroes can be found in each of us
Life presents us with change and we can become stronger in life. Somethings change us forever and that does affect us. My first big change was in grade school. Just hearing words from a 4th grade teacher that planted deep within my soul. She said I could not spell good and the class laughed at me. If I raised my hand, she would point out to the class I couldn't spell and the word couldn't stuck. Kids would laugh at me at recess time and nobody really wanted to play with me. It seemed like everyone had friends but me. All of this is coming from my 4th grader self. I felt like life turned around in middle school. We called it junior high then and I made new friends from other schools.
Just as the scriptures above, learned over time to become stronger. Inside of me was a person that needed to shine and I didn't realize that. I was just a kid and I didn't know about Jesus or his disciples. When I was about 19 years old, that's when I began a learning experience of life with God. It wasn't an overnight belief but a process of time. Just like Jesus taught the disciples, we are in need of being taught. Age isn't just a number, but guides us in wisdom of past years and opening up our minds to continue to learn in life. I heard that all things work together when God is in control.
IN THE PICTURE ABOVE ~
It's my son and his two daughters. They love Halloween time in dressing up. They saw these mask and suddenly became super heroes. I love watching them have fun together.
What super hero do you like? It is Batman or is the Robin who sticks by the side of someone? It is super woman or anyone on the list of super heroes? I perfect Batman and Robin. It shows me they are a team and it feels like Jesus and myself. Each of us is on the team of God and daily growing into a better person. I hope you see yourself strong today and able to face whatever comes into your path. Prayer works and God is able to handle this day just fine. Be encouraged and go about doing good today. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
