The joy of the Lord is my strength
James 1:2-3 New International Version (NIV)
Trials and Temptations
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance
Did I read that right, I should consider it pure joy when facing hard stuff? It does say this and often times its hard to be joyful in trials. We face so many things that take our minds from our now to the past and then to the future. We must see beyond the trial and learn to deal with it. No matter what we face, God is right here for us. Even if it doesn't feel like it, God is here. He gives us:
JOY ~ PEACE ~ STRENGTH ~ COURAGE ~ WISDOM
Psalm 30:4-5 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones!
Praise his holy name.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime!
Weeping may last through the night,
but joy comes with the morning.
SPEAK IT OUT ~
God's favor last a lifetime!
Joy comes with the morning!
The Bible has many scriptures of joy. Joy comes by choice of what we think upon. Be careful what you think because negative thoughts can lead to another negative though. Keeping a positive mindset is a must and allow God to handle our day. Sometimes the Christmas season brings back memories of sorrows and missing loved ones. My friend Heather and I can totally relate to this. Both of our brothers died on Christmas day and we witness different things. It was different years and different ages, but we feel connected by this one expereince. Loosing a loved one on Christmas Day changes that year's emotions and years after too. But both us have talked and we have learned to find joy in the season over the years. It's about the birth of Jesus and God's timing for our brothers to enter heaven.
I told you this example today, because sometimes in shopping I find my brother a gift. He was a big Raiders Fan and when I see anything Raiders, I am reminded of his love for them and for me. There will be reminders. Just like Jesus birthday (Christmas), a positive reminder of what God did for each of us. I find strength in God and the joy I so need to stir up at times. My thoughts and prayers are with you as well. I don't know your story but I care. My prayers continue for your family and friends too.
Purpose this a good day!
