Luke 9 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Sends Out the Twelve
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
3 He told them: “Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt. 4 Whatever house you enter, stay there until you leave that town. 5 If people do not welcome you, leave their town and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.” 6 So they set out and went from village to village, proclaiming the good news and healing people everywhere.
JOURNEY ~
Jesus sent out the twelve and gave them instructions for their journey. Over the generations, we can read of the goodness of God as they follow instructions and the things that happen if they don't. Jesus told them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. Jesus didn't want they to take anything from the people. He knew that some would not welcome them and to shake the dust off their feet as a testimony.
LET GO and LET GOD ~
Somethings will happen in our lives that we might want to figure out. Yet, I love how Jesus said, "SHAKE THE DUST OFF". We are hear on earth for a short time. I have found as my age goes up in number, I value one more day more than ever. I want to go about proclaiming the good news of Jesus and allowing him to use my life. I've been through some crazy times over the years and I've seen God faithful.
DISCIPLE ~
A personal follower of Jesus
Have you ever thought about how all the disciples were different? They came from different walks of life and Jesus had a plan for each of them. He hasn't created us to be the same but different. I spoke to a woman yesterday who encouraged me so much to write. I met her at THE WELL at church and haven't seen her in a very long time. She spoke words that helped me know that I didn't need to know who reads my blog, I just need to write. It blesses her and that blesses me. I've said it many times, I write from the middle of my heart and know that God answers prayers.
Today, my thoughts are with those who read this, your family and friends. I do care and will continue to write. This is a new day and God has greater things ahead. Let go of what you can not change and change the things you can. Thanks Sherry for teaching me that years ago.
