Matthew 14:22-33 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Walks on the Water Immediately
Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone, 24 and the boat was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
STEP OUT ~
Have you ever wonder about the fear of what holds you back? Do you not think that Jesus will be right there? It is much easier to say this, than do this. The one thing that brings fear or a scared feeling, can be casted away with the power of God. Look how far God has brought your life to now. There are good things and bad things of life. We do have ups and downs but God remains the same. I think of the men who were in the boat, maybe one got scared and it placed the fear in the others. Who really knew their thoughts or actions but God.
Inside of us are stories. Stories of a lifetime to our now. Those stories either spur us on in life or make us withdrawn inside of ourselves. God is bigger than anything we have done or we will face in life. Our hope and trust should remain in him. Maybe a storm of life have crippled you from pressing into your purpose. Many of us know exactly what God has called us too but still hold back. I believe today that God is saying don't hold back, step out! Step out into the plan God has for you and that will help someone else. Your yes to God is bigger than you might realize.
Last night there was a big storm here. I was leaving my church and had the windshield wipers on high. Cars were driving slower than normal and puddle of water were everywhere. Be careful and pressing on, but I called a friend to talk to on the way home. I had to focus on the road but get my mind off the scared feeling of heavy rain. Doing a hands free cell phone, makes it seem like the person is in the car with you. I'm saying this, but taking our minds off the scared feeling of anything is important. God is right there with us and we must realize that. Telling our brains to set our mindset to good things and remembering that God does not give the spirit of fear.
2 Timothy 1:7 King James Version (KJV)
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
