God connects live for purpose. Family and friends join together to share special occasions of life and death. So many things happen within one family.
Last night I had a dream, a good dream. I saw myself standing in front of a large group of people, sharing my life's story. I saw how one decision of saying yes to God, changed my life and others lives.
The year was 1988 and I would find myself living in a land of anger. I had a decision to make, to follow God or not to follow him. Letting go of what I could not change and changing the things I could. Time would pass and I would make the decision to follow God.
Joshua 24:15 New International Version (NIV)
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
YOUR EXAMPLE ~
Is far greater than you might realize
People watch our lives closely. There is the thing called, "Facebook" and we connect with others. Some people we are closer too and some we might barely know but they know our face. They follow us and learn our character of our actions posted on it. That is why I decided to post my daily blog on it. It will bring some hope to others and share the goodness of God. I've been through a lot in life and I've seen miracles as well. I just can't stop believing that greater is still ahead for each of us.
The positive of life outweighs the negative when we surrender our will to God's will. The word written in verse 15 above, as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. It brings God inside your home and the kindness will shine outside your home. I believe our example is important.
JESUS ~ SET AN EXAMPLE
John 13:1-17New International Version (NIV)Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet13 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.
12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
CARING FOR OTHERS ~
Jesus showed his disciples how he cared
You might be saying right now, I am not washing feet of others. This story is about the humble experience Jesus showed us. Maybe it's not washing feet today, but showing someone you care no matter what. Jesus would kneel down and the disciples could see that he cared. It might sound kinda strange to do this, but in the day of Jesus walking the earth, it was right. It continues to be right caring about people. Maybe forgiveness of a family member needs to be done today or forgiving yourself needs to be done today. God gives us another chance to ask forgiveness and then to share humbling experiences of our lives with others.
Jesus was and continues to be about communication. Working things out and pressing forward. My prayers are with you (readers of my blog), your family and friends. Today is a new beginning and allow yourself time to process how much you are loved by God and others. This is a good day because God has made it.
