So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
I was only a teenager when I heard these words, "Second Fiddle". A preacher told me that it would seem like all of my life, I would play second fiddle but it is better than not playing a fiddle at all. What? What did this mean? I was 19 years old and as she spoke those words to me, then tend to haunt me. Even today, it hurts thinking I am not good enough or I will never be first or will I? I find myself searching for a place in life. I have held titles and lost them. I have helped and not been acknowledge but why do I love to help others? It's not because of fitting in or belonging. It is who I am and I am enough. I am good enough to be number one or first place in some areas of life. I have learned that life is not a competition with God, we are created after his own image.
SECOND FIDDLE ~
I understand the second fiddle statement far more as I have grown older. Sometimes we are second or not a part at all. It's how we handle somethings we are not a part of that matters. We learn to do our best and we learn not to compare out lives to others. Each of our journeys are unique and set in motion by God. Let us not forget, each of our own choices can lead the way too. Be careful of your decisions and your own mindsets in life.
Psalm 139:13-16 New International Version (NIV)
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
GOD CREATED ME ~Drum roll please: It's not about a music instrument but a feeling deep within your soul. It's not a fiddle at all, but about knowing you matter. If God created us equal and he did, then we are good enough and number one in his book. He created us the same and yet so different. Don't allow others to say your not good enough. Don't allow the enemy of your soul to take you away from what God has given you. A freedom in him and connecting with others is so important in life. You are enough and you are important!
I also enjoy helping others. I might not have a title in some positions of life, but I certainly am a helper. Behinds the scenes of life might be called second fiddle. If that's so, then I'm okay with that too. I live to be kind and to help. I want my spark to shine in all I do.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those today who feel their journey is hard, not good enough to some and feelings of sadness. I have been a part of something for many years and now I'm not. It is hard to deal with but you know what? God is the same yesterday, today and forever. People make their own choices and that's okay. We get hurt because we are human. We feel sad because we are human with feelings. Don't let the sadness get your down and stir up some positive thoughts. The truth is, you won't always fit in, but you were born to stand out.
SECOND FIDDLE ~
I was told playing second is better than no place at all.
Please don't take on words of others that tend to hold you back. Allow God the chance to change the situation and let God mold into the person he wants you to be. Fulling forgiven of sin and ready to shine for him. Try to protect your heart and don't let not being invited to something hold you back. The bible says: Above all else, guard your heart, for everything that you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23
Change isn't always easy, but it happens. I've learned this all during my life time. I have decided to let go again of what I can not change and just live my life the best I can. My family and friends care about me and that's certainly enough for me. I know that God spared my life on September 18th of this year too. After my heart attack, I said I wouldn't let anything bother me again, but just live my life. I hope you do as well. Happy new day!
