James 1:19-27 (NIV)
Listening and Doing19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
There was times when my husband had no work and he would go daily to search at job sites for a job. He would come home feeling defeated but would get back up the next day and search again. Until that one day, he would get a job. Excitement would fill our home and I knew that it could happen again. He was a union carpenter and that was our life. Our seasons would change according to his job. We also noticed all of our attitudes would change too. It would go from sadness to happiness. That's just one example of change.
Another example is my husband fell over 40 feet at a construction site. That would leave him with a broken knee cap, crack ribs and off work for over a year. Our live style changed once again and we learned much from that season of life. One day he would retire and that set us into another season too. He are learning to balance a income, each other daily and a new way of living. It has many joys as we share time with grandchildren and able to help others. That's part of who we are too.
Think about life, from a child to a teenager. Then a teenager to an adult. Live changes and we grow from experiences we face. We can face them with courage, wisdom, knowledge and grow into a deeper relationship with God. Putting our own hopes and dreams in his hands, but know he is able to handle whatever we face. Health issues, job issues, house issues or any issues of life God is able. I have seen miracles in my lifetime. Things that suddenly changed and I knew it was God. I have also seen miracles in time. Those that are a process of time and you know God is at work. Don't give up believing in a miracle or what you are praying for. Prayer works and I've seen that so much over time.
SEASONS CHANGE ~
This too shall pass become my thoughts in some seasons
Seasons I have enjoyed more than I can say. I remember being so excited to graduate high school and college. The day I got married and a few years later having my first child. Then my child and the gift of grandchildren. I am blessed for sure, but it was the gift that God gave me that changed me. The gift of life and giving me a choice to serve him. To surrender all my mistakes to God and asking him to come into my heart. He totally did that and I have experiences much over this journey called life. I have learned to count blessings and when I make mistakes, I try again. Nobody is perfect and I purpose good days. I hope you do too.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
