2 Corinthians 1
New Living Translation (NLT)
Greetings from Paul
This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy.
I am writing to God’s church in Corinth and to all of his holy people throughout Greece. 2 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
God Offers Comfort to All
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. 6 Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. 7 We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.
POWERFUL ~ I want to focus on the last line above in verse 7 ~ you will also share in the comfort God gives us. Comfort that God gives us through it all. I know the letter was written to the church above, but through the words written are in our today's of life. We will suffer and go through things, but comfort remains in God. Each situation is different and the peace of God can remain in our hearts. God gives us grace and peace.
I spoke with someone who just can not feel God in their life. They have seen way to much sadness, sickness and the power of God appears to be unseen. I have been in hard spots of life and I know that I struggled with believing at one time. Yet, when I was faced by words of someone to deny Christ, I just could not say that God was not real. Yes, I was upset with God, but I believed he was real. I just did not feel him on my side in that time of life, but God never let go of me. He purposed my life for more than I could even image. I love writing you who reads this and sharing hope of a new day. I think that is why I feel to write from the middle of my heart. I've been broken, lost and told by someone I will never forgive you. God forgives you and forgets.
I value the love of God. I have scars upon my heart and my arm from the waters of Cabo. My testimony is one of almost dying in Cabo and I said these words in my head ~ if I had another chance of life, I would teach and do what God had called me to in life. Suddenly, we got pulled from the waters of Cabo and that was over 10 years ago. I have co-taught faithful on Wednesday nights to Women at Hillside Christian Center in Napa. From my scars, I allow God to use me. Through every heart break of life, I share being real. Through every great event or miracle I've seen, I share being real.
Flashbacks of life can come to each of us in different ways. It what we do with those flashbacks that matter. We can choose to move forward or stay trapped in those thoughts.
Scars are not often seen, but felt. Just remember that God can see your heart, your scars and able to help you move forward. We have all sinned and God forgives. Let things go that you can not change and change the things you can. This week in class, we spoke of the Holy Spirit and the power in the name of Jesus. People waiting on God to get their miracle. Throughout the Bible, stories of victories and so much more. A roadmap to Heaven and a way to believe on Earth. FAITH that can move you to believe and holding onto his holy power.
I would ask you today, to pray for someone else who you know needs a miracle or pray for a friend in your life that you might not even know they need prayer. When someone comes to mind, act upon it with a message back or prayer. Send a message of hope by texting, email or even a phone call. I have one friend who puts a letter in the mail to me usually once a month. I find that mail is still exciting to get. Communication is something God created for us to stay connected. Don't allow any scars from your past, keep you in the past. Each day is a new beginning.
Go today by faith, hope and love. Live in peace of mind and allow your scars to grow you and not harm you. Allow you scars to see the goodness of God and where he has brought you from in life. Go ahead and believe BIG! My prayers continue for you and your family/friends.
