John 15:5 (NIV)
I am the vine, you are the branches. The one who abides in me while I abide in him produces much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
Colossians 2:7 New International Version (NIV)
Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Genesis 2:9 (NIV)
The LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground--trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
ROOTED AND GROUNDED ~
God made all kinds of trees. Each holds it's own purpose but each has roots that go deep. Just like our personal lives, we must be grounded in the truth. When storms come and winds blow, our lives stay solid. You will find there are times we must walk by faith and stay rooted. It's not an option to give up! It's not an option have your life up rooted by a situation, but to remain solid in God.
I've had times in my life when I felt things were falling apart. My life changed directions and I was to go down a path I never wanted to travel. Yet, I was rooted in God and I wasn't about to give up. I saw winds of change, rain that brought tears and a growth that I never knew could happen. After the roots take root, there is no where to go but up!
TREE OF LIFE ~ TREE OF KNOWLEDGE ~ OF GOOD and EVIL
There is a purpose for every tree and there is a purpose for every life. You were born for a reason and it often takes time for roots to go deep and for you to stand through it all. Don't be hard on yourself if you facing things you don't understand. We will not always understand somethings and that is where trust comes in. We do need knowledge and that takes us going through things. We are taught right from wrong as children (Good and Evil). We must guard our hearts and know that our choices are important.
My husband (Terry) taught a class for years called Foundation of Faith. He taught new believers how to put their trust in God and how important a solid foundation is with God. It's the same as this message today. Our roots go deep and yet our lives are changed on a daily bases. Trusting God through it all things.
As we face a new day, my prayers are with you, your family and friends. I know the importance of roots, a solid foundation and the tree of life. We only have one life to live and let us do this life with love and the grace given by God.
