14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.
REACHING OUT ~
Elijah prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.
Have you ever wondered if you just prayed again what could happen? I've talked about it a lot but when I had my heart attack, I not only prayed but I ask others to pray. I prayed again and again for God to give me a miracle of no open heart surgery. He answered that prayer by putting one stent in my heart and no surgery. God hears our prayers and answers the desires of our hearts. I was talking with someone last night and he was shocked this happen to me. He knew that I never smoked or drank alcohol. It's not all about what I didn't do, but what was done to the arteries of my body. I find that even good people can face hard things. Your body handles things differently and are not to compare it to anyone else.
PRAYER WORKS ~
Matthew 7:7-8 New International Version (NIV)
Ask, Seek, Knock
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Prayer has changed my life. I really believe that I had praying grandmothers. I know that when I need prayer, if I reach out to someone and ask them to pray, they will. I have seen miracles of life and I know that God has greater things in store for all of us. We can let a current situation stop us, but allow others in to hold on for us. Prayer is the key to reaching God and praise is too. You might ask, how do I praise in a hard situation? Well praise and singing is good for the soul. The bible says: Proverbs 17:22 New International Version (NIV)22 A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Never forget to reach out to others. Not only do you seek the Lord, but seek great friendships that you have things in common with too. God connects lives for purpose and we need to grow deeper with others. Just like we do Jesus and know that his example continues on today. My prayers are with you, your family and friends.
