1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither--
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Delight in the law of the Lord
If we could keep this chapter of Psalm alive inside of us, we will continue to do what is right. Each of us have desires of our hearts and plans of life. It takes time to grow in God and learn his ways. It takes time to release some of our own thoughts and take on his ways. Growing into a deeper relationship with God and allow him to mold us. Throughout my life time, I have learn some things the hard way. Had I just listen to someone or trusted what they were saying. Doing things my way, sometimes have brought sadness to myself. Leaning on God is a learning thing too. We don't have all the answers and yes we do need others in our lives. Others who do their best to trust the Lord and live by example of Jesus too.
When I read Psalm 1, I first think of a friend named Dennis. He was young and full of joy. He would quote this chapter and say it was his chapter of life. He was called by God to preach and teach God's word. He was under 25 years old, when a friend and him decided to drink alcohol. I'm not sure what brought them both to this decision, but it ended bad. They were in a terrible car accident and Dennis was die that night but the driver would live. What a nightmare for two friends of mine and living without Dennis is hard. The driver of the car wasn't a bad person, he just made a mistake too. If we could only know that drinking and driving doesn't mixed. I don't drink alcohol because I see the affects it can cause on others.
I can't read Psalm 1 without thinking of a young man who wanted to be used by God. Let us remember that the devil goes about trying to sway us from what's right in life. Before you do something, think about it and ask yourself if God would be pleased. Just maybe, it will sway you from making a big mistake. Maybe that big mistake is not you, but someone you love greatly. Do your best to lead by example and help others in anyway you can too. Second chances don't always happen for everyone and we must remember to keep Psalm 1 alive inside of us.
DELIGHT IN THE LORD ~
Giving thanks daily for what God has already done in our lives. Reaching out from a place of life with grace and mercy that God gives us. New beginnings can happen and in that, we will grow from our own ways to God's ways. Purpose this a good day!
My thoughts and prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
