: the third Monday in February observed as a legal holiday in most of the states of the U.S. in honor of the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln
NOTE: The federal name for this holiday according to the United States Code is Washington's Birthday, but many states and municipalities refer to it as Presidents' Day, honoring both George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. It is also sometimes considered to be in honor of all U.S. presidents.
THE BIBLE SAYS:
John 13:34-35 New International Version (NIV)34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
A PRESIDENT ~
a : an elected official serving as both chief of state and chief political executive in a republic having a presidential government
b : an elected official having the position of chief of state but usually only minimal political powers in a republic having a parliamentary government
PRESIDENTS DAY ~
To give honor to those men who stepped up to make our country better. I also give honor to the women behind the scenes in the early years of these men. We never know what their lives were really like at home. There were no iPhone or internet in the 1700's. We can read stories but many of the women's voices were silent in public. One point of today is to give honor to those gone before us. Changes over years have brought freedom to many in many areas. Different presidents has brought changes we might like and dislike in life. Yet, change is needed in our country.
To be honest, I think of Presidents who have made positive changes in our country. There are different choices to pick from:
- Democratic Party.
- Republican Party.
- Libertarian Party.
- Green Party.
- Constitution Party.
Moving from politics to a spiritual part now. I wanted to share that praying about who to choose in an office is important. Reading up on a person too, but what about their view on God. Do they believe the word of God, do they live it to best you can see or totally against religious. After all, our money says IN GOD WE TRUST. We might not believe the same religion, but we believe in a God who made this world.
Talking about politics and religion is something I don't talk about to an individual. I have found many of my friends, republican and democratic. I have friends who believe in God who attend church, those who don't attend church and a few who wonder if God is real. We are in different spots of life and we change over the years. My younger years brought more doubt, but my now years brings me into positive thinking and knowing every decision is valuable. It's good to let others be who they are in life, while I live the example before them. People have asked me why I am different and I believe that's because I have been through so much in life. Our so much in life isn't always talked about either. It's just a known fact that I've sinned in life and asked God to forgive me. I have also asked humans to forgive me and live with a voice that says I will never forgive you. Yet, I did ask that forgiveness.
I think at the end of life, we will ask ourselves if we have done all we could to live in freedom of mind, soul and being. Living by example the best we could and knowing God created this world for us to live in freedom through him. Men and women before us fought hard for rights, freedom and being different. We were created to be different and yet do what is right. Be an example before others and stand up for what is right in our country.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. Presidents Day is also about sales in stores or buying a car. Deals are given, family gatherings are over this weekend and freedom in America. I'll close by saying GOD BLESS AMERICA and keep showing kindness.
