2 Chronicles 7:14 King James Version (KJV)14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Ephesians 6:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Our stories are different and our voice matters. Our example goes a lot further than we might ever know in this life. The year was 1968 when Martin Luther King Jr was killed. I was 13 years old and I remember watching TV from my hospital room. I just had my tonsils out and I didn't understand the why so much violence. I went back to school days later to find riots and getting hit on because of my color of my skin. Fear gripped my heart and I wanted to learn more as a 13 year old girl and be a peacemaker.
I value the life of Martin Luther King Jr and I learned a lot from his example. One of his quotes:
"Darkness can't drive out darkness;only light can do that. Hate can't drive out hate; only love can do that." ~ Martin Luther King Jr
We learn from people who have gone on before us in life. We learn from people who are around us this day. Let us learn to be peacemakers in this land and in ourselves. My heart goes out to family and friends today who are hurting because of violence and wrong actions. My heart goes out to innocent people who are affected by others wrong choices. I hope we can remember that each of our own choices not only affects us but someone else.
Matthew 5:9 King James Version (KJV)
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
There will always be good and evil in our land. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
