Psalm 1:3 New International Version (NIV)
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither--
whatever they do prospers.
We often think of flowers when we hear the word planted. It is a process of planting a seed, watching it grow as we water it. It takes time and someone to take care of it. Now let me relate this to Psalm 1:3 above. A person planted by streams of water and you will grow. I love this example because it shows the plan, the promise of growing and the picture of yielding.
Jeremiah 17:8-10 New International Version (NIV)
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
9 The heart is deceitful above all things
and beyond cure.
Who can understand it?
10 “I the Lord search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”
In wisdom, knowledge, love, peace and the list goes on. Keep God's word in our hearts and determination to be rooted in God. A person rooted in God stands the storms of life. Just like the palm tree that weather big storms and still stands. Even the little things in life can sway a person, but those rooted in God still stands.
I had a big tree growing next to my driveway at home. Over time, the roots grew across my driveway and started to push up the driveway. The crack kept growing bigger and eventually we need a new driveway but they had to take up the roots. I hope you can see the importance of growing in God daily. We need the word, just like a flower or tree needs water. It helps character our way of thinking which changes our character. Living in kindness can really change so many things.
WORDS ~ are so important.
The way we speak to people and the way we speak to ourselves matters. I am a person who chooses to change my mindset quickly. I can take one thought and if I am not careful, I am dwelling more to the negative than the positive. So over the years of life, I've learned to quickly let negative thoughts go and grab onto some positives one. Seeing the things God has already done and the kindness that surrounds my life. I can not make someone else think the way I do, because they are not me. Have you ever wanted someone to see things your way, but they just didn't? It can become frustrating if we are not careful. So guard your mind, heart and soul with the positive lifestyle the Lord wants for you. I say this a lot but mean it: let go of what you can not change and change the things you can!
Walking and living in God's love, kindness and favor is what God wants for all of us. Be planted in God and watch your life grow. A daily choices come to action.
My prayers continue as you grow daily, your family and friends too.
