Romans 12:9-21 New International Version (NIV)
Love in Action
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another.Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:
“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
OVERCOME THINGS ~
There are things in my mind that I must fight at times. My thoughts become strong on a certain thing and I must purpose my mindset to go to good. Things aren't always as they appear either and we can find good in situations that seem so bad.
I like the scripture above that speaks to practice hospitality. Practice being kind and speaking good words. Negative words can last a life time and it takes us getting rid of those quickly. We are not who some people say we are, but we are everything God says we are. We have too much to gain in life than to stay in the past of hurtful words or actions by others. Read the word of God and practice being kind.
Something done to us in life takes time to get over. It is a process of letting go and don't be so hard on yourself. It takes a constant prayer life and asking God to help you let go. Over time, you will find you think less of negative and more of positive. I"m an example of someone who got extremely hurt by people who I thought were my friends. Over time, I learned what real friendship is and I write now from the middle of my heart to you. We must remember that people are just human too and make mistakes. Sometimes we might get judged wrong and it's not our job to judge anyway. God has a plan and unfolds that plan in each of our lives. Letting go of what you can't change and changing the things you can is important.
LIVE IN PEACE ~
I am old enough now to realize, not everyone will agree with me. I have learned to listen, let go and live in peace of my own mind. Romans 12:1-2 speaks of a living sacrifice and that is powerful. Each of us have our own mindset and lets keep our mindset on doing good. Let us not forget that the devil is real and wants to stop you from serving God plus living in peace. Stay close to the Lord in thoughts and actions.
Psalm 91:1 New International Version (NIV)
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Rest in the shadow of God and trust beyond a human understanding. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
