Mark 4:30-34 New International Version (NIV)
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
30 Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”
33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.
UNDERSTAND IT ~
It is through the root that flows hope. God has spoken many promises throughout his word. He is a promise keeper and things do change in our lives. Often from the worst of things, God connects our lives to someone else. God spoke in parables so others would understand better. I find it easier to talk in parables. Giving an example helps us to understand a situation easier.
Are you facing something today that you need to feel hope in? I have talked to a lot of strangers lately on vacation and they need to feel hope. One young man said he couldn't feel hope but he sure liked to hear that I was holding on for him in prayer. He said life just gets hard when things don't change. It has gone from days, to months and to years. He needs to know that someone cared and I shared that I did care plus pray for him. He was about the age of my son and I could feel my mom's heart rising up over his situation of divorce. I do care about strangers and about those who read my blog. I know that life can suddenly become hard and it takes time to process change.
I do my best daily to live what I teach and tell myself to get through things faster. In years past, I would dwell on something for days, weeks and months. I couldn't let go of certain things said to me and they brought me down to sadness. Honestly, to depression too. Now I am older and I see the value in one day, the purpose in right thinkings and living in the moments of life. Things change to quickly and I don't want to miss out on anything that God has for me. Freedom in thoughts and actions is so important. One seed planted is worth a million words when watered by good thoughts.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
