The dictionary says: To hold close. The Bible speaks about Jesus being a friend. Jesus hugs us with words of encouragement and uses others to show us too. The process of a hug takes action. Jesus took action in many ways while he walked on earth and continues to show us today.
Romans 12:9-21 New International Version (NIV)
Love in Action
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Maybe you don't want to hug a person right now, but you can practice hospitality.
Psalm 136:1 New International Version (NIV)
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Acts of kindness:
Can you think of some acts of kindness you can do today? Maybe a smile to a stranger, a text to a friend or going out of your way to help someone. Maybe even a hug to someone you care about. One act of kindness goes a long way. I say this often, but we never know what someone goes through in one day. We are brought together for reason and our lives is to show kindness.
Find one scripture that brings you a hug today. My pick in the Bible is 1 Corinthians Chapter 13 because it is known as the love chapter. I know that Jesus loves me and he shows me within his word (Bible). He shows me by people calling me, texting me and random acts of kindness. I find hope within the Bible and I choose to hug Jesus back with my actions. Praise is one great way, an act of worship.
Mark 12:30-31 New International Version (NIV)Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Let us think:
Think of a time when a hug made a difference in your life? That person and the reason behind it. It brings back great memories of life. We also have moments of missing hugs in our lives. I was thinking of my mom when I thought of a hug. She now lives in Heaven and I miss her. If I could just hug her one more time. Have you ever had those moments? Well, we can't go back and hug people who now live in Heaven, but we certainly can remember great times. We can also make sure we hug people here on earth and tell them their importance to our lives. It takes action and I would say do this today. We never know what one day will bring.
A hug is a simply act of kindness and connects us with someone. God is so good to give us hugs through others. Keeping our mindset upon Jesus is valuable everyday of life. If you mind wonders away, just bring back your thoughts to positive and trust Jesus beyond limits.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. I care....
