Psalm 1:1-6 (NIV)
1 Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither--
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
MY RESPONSE ~
I will delight is in the law of the Lord,
and I will meditate on his law day and night.
Taking a moment to restart my brain helps me. I have heard that others would like to be me, but honestly, I have times that are so hard. Times in life that I don't even talk about and I press forward to leave it behind. Sometimes our behind things in life, can hit us as if it were today. It is in those moments I tell myself that it's over and no reason to think about it. I have already spent too much time going over things I can not change. It is time to let the past be the past and live in this day. This is much easier said than done in some cases.
I know someone who had something happen over 20 years ago and they still replay it. The anger and frustration just stays the same. But God, in all of his goodness wants us to let things go. Sin is sin and God offers us a new beginning. Mistakes happen and people say negative things that plant inside a brain but God, can restore your thoughts. I am an example of someone hurt terribly by church leaders in the past, but God brought me through and now I teach others. I attend a heathy church and it's up to push back the negative thoughts when they try to reappear. The devil is slick and knows exactly where to hits us. But God is greater and knows we need his help.
