When I was a child, I had a telephone like this one.
You simply picked up the receiver and put your finger in the hole of the number you wanted. A series of numbers dialed and you would hear the voice of the person. A way of communication and sometimes you would get a busy signal. Then you would need to try again later. You never knew who was calling, until you picked up the phone. I always wanted someone to call me, but as a kid, it did not happen.
THROUGH THE YEARS ~
Changes continue for our lives. In the year 2016, we have cell phones that travel with us. Younger people do not know what telephone booth was meant for or the need of money to put into one. Now you can look at your phone and know who is calling, take pictures on it and set reminders throughout your day.
The years of Jesus, there are no telephones or cell phones like we have now. Life has changed over generations. I can look back to how it was when I was a kid and how things are now. Modern technology in so many ways have helped us. It has also taken us away from things we care about. Time spend with loved ones, because we are too busy with a cell phone. You can play games on it, research the internet, message someone or just into lives of others through Facebook.
CALLING UPON JESUS ~
It does not take a telephone to reach him
Romans 10:13 (NIV)
for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Acts 2:21 (NIV)
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
Throughout the Bible, there were men and women who called out to God. They had needs and their faith raised as they heard of the healing power of God. God sent his only son (Jesus) to walk this earth and go about doing his will. Jesus walked for miles and remember there were no real luxuries of life. There was no phones, no cars, no electricity and the list continues. There was a real God and his power was known and questioned.
The devil tries to destroy the earth and gather as many souls as he could. He isn't your friend and doesn't want the best for you. He paints a beautiful picture but it's only a trap to take you away from God. We have all sinned and God forgives. We are human and our human minds tries hard to figure things out. Yet, The Lord says to call upon the name of the Lord and you will be saved. That's turning from old ways of life and stepping into a new way of thinking.
I love Romans 12:1-2 that speaks of renewing your mind. Things are not like older days and thank God for a changed life. I'm glad I didn't live in the days of men taking away the first born son in homes. I'm glad I didn't live in time of Moses needing to lead the people across the red sea. I am glad I didn't live in the days of Noah and the arch of animals. The seasons of change and the disturbing thoughts of yesterdays. Life was hard then and no running water or lights inside a house turned on by a switch. We think we have hards days, but if we read the Bible, those were hards days.
Such a mixture of life finding peace in the middle of everything and choosing to live in this day of life. God has brought you from a mighty long way my friend and I know that he continues to guide us through words on a page, a song in our hearts and a determination beyond a human understanding. Yes, God is real and his power remains the same. He can change your life in a moments time and he can turn a bad situation into a miracle of praise. We simply learn to call upon him and lean not to our understanding through life. I choose to stand up for God and allow myself to not live in regrets.
THROUGH THE YEARS ~
I have personally seen the miracle working power of God. I had tears of sorrow and the change that made my heart want to stop. Yet, amazing strength as I choose to live for God. Days of doubt and wonder, but days of joy and peace. I choose daily to call God and just say thank you for a new day! Just to say I love you and the joy that fills my heart as the mention of his name. It's a daily choice and it's an open mind to learn more about God.
What makes me different? Telling my stories about failing God and getting back up. Living through grief that continues off and on in my life. Being real and not afraid to share my real self over words on a page. A living example that God restores lives and I'm just like you. Human and I have tears, but I have joys. I have a choice to serve God with ALL my heart and so do it. God made us alike, but he also made us different for a reason. Our talents were meant to help others and not destroy others. Words matter and you matter!
My prayers are with you, your family and friends! Don't forget to call God today and just say thank you for another day of life. Maybe you don't want to say thank you to God today because life is just too hard. Then say this, thank you for connecting me to this website so I can read these words, because the person writing this truly cares about me! God loves you and hears the cry of your heart. He is truly only a call away and you don't need money to reach him!
MAKE THE CALL ~
God is waiting and ready to help you!
God is ready to hear your praise too!
Just a little talk with JESUS, changes you, which changes things!
