My thoughts today goes to one letter in the mail. I remember going to the mail box and looking for a letter from a friend. It was before the days of a cell phone and computers. I was just a 13 years old and my friend Donna moved about 45 minutes away. It seemed like a million miles and my mom would not drive me to see her. So I had to rely on the mail. Here comes the truck and excitement builds as it gets closer. Yet, it passed my house and no mail. Letters would end and I always wondered why. I will always remember her kindness to me.
A letter is filled with information that is personal. The envelope is addressed to you. Think about it, there wasn't mail in the days of Jesus. Yet, there are stories on the pages of the Bible. Many people believe the Bible and live the best they can daily. Much wisdom is on the pages and ways to handle things in life. Along the way, we need to find rest in our now of life. There is a quiet place where God hears you and is working on your behalf.
Mark 6:31-34 New International Version (NIV)
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
32 So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. 33 But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
Each day can be a learning experience in life. Jesus is a real friend who doesn't leave us. It is each of us who might leave Jesus at times. His word is true and faithful. Jesus is our shepherd and we are the sheep. We need to listen and allow him freedom to make us into a better person.
Proverbs 18:24 New King James Version (NKJV)
A man who has friends must himself be friendly,
But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
To have a friend is to be a friend. Jesus sticks closer than a brother. We don't need a stamp and envelope to reach Jesus. Daily communication is available and it doesn't cost anything but time. We need to learn of his ways and take on his character. People need to see Jesus in us and through us. To be different and know that Heaven is real. There is no mail there either, but lots of people who learned to overcome things and enter by grace plus mercy. Just like you and me, not perfect but forgiven. The mail system doesn't need to work in Heaven, because we have the ability to talk to Jesus right now.
Purpose this a good day and know that I care. Sometimes friendships change and people do move away. I am older now and I find that God sends new friends into our lives. I had a teacher in high school that said to me if you have one real friend in life you are lucky. You really only have acquaintances in life. I remembered her statement, but I do have more than one real friend in life and I do consider myself bless. To have a real friend, be a real friend that's my thoughts. I like time with people and I know that Jesus likes time with me. Learning and growing daily is my motto. Living kindness in everything is important to me and I do my best daily. So here's my letter to you today, be happy and see the things you do have in life. I'm glad that God connected us through this blog!
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
