If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
LOVE IN ACTION ~
One day I saw how God answered my prayers. I began to see how God's plan was a little different than I thought. I like the verse above about seeing a reflection as in a mirror but one day face to face. Thinking over faith, hope and love, but the greatest is love. In speaking to others, I find the word love means something different. Think about it, what does love mean to you?
When I first think of the word love, I think of the song, "Jesus Loves Me". So many changes of life and the word love, but Jesus never stops loving me. The same goes for you too. Maybe people say they love us, but there actions is far from real love. The real love of God remains the same through his only son Jesus and inside each of us. Love is given by God and sometimes we must purpose knowing he truly loves us.
My life changed the day I gave my heart to God. It began a trust inside of me that something greater would happen with my life. I was so sad and felt so alone. I was 18 years old and broken inside from the death of my dad. He died suddenly inside our home and life would change forever. It is now over 44 years later and some Saturday mornings, it is so clear. I feel that feeling of missing him and I never doubted that he loved me. He is no longer here to hug me, tell me or share my life. Who knew I only had 18 years with him and I certainly would have said this, "I LOVE YOU". I've always missed not saying those words to my dad as a teenager. Growing up isn't always easy and we miss special moments of life because we are just trying to figure life out. Well, I figured it out now and I tell people I love you and maybe too much. I get back the response like this, "I know that". Other times, I get back the response of this, "I LOVE YOU TOO". Well life is short, so please push somethings away ever and let God guide your life in LOVE.
Love is a real thing and maybe we don't have love like a movie, but we have love like we have it. Change comes from you and that changes others too. Let the love of Jesus shine through you and in you. Be that example you always wished you had in life and see how life can grow better and never grow bitter over things.
My thoughts and prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
