The Parable of the Bags of Gold
14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’
21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’
23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’
26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.
28 “‘So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.
JOURNEY ~ Each one of us is on a journey of life. God has created us and what we do with our own talents matter. We are created equal and yet our own decisions makes such a difference. After reading the story above of the talents and what each person did with them, try to relate you to one of these. What will you do with the talent that God has given you? How will your journey continue on this day and what thoughts might rush through your heart?
Speak positive things over yourself this day. Know that your life matters and what you do matters. Each of us have a mission of life and God has given us freedom to make positive choices. Time is too short not to live in freedom of what God has called you to do and take action. Living in purpose and peace of mind. I choose to allow God to use my life and I hope you will join me in that. Don't try to be anyone but you in life and count blessings daily.
Over the years, I have wondered if I am using my talents in the right way. I know that God has gifted me to write and yet I hold back. My heart's desire is to write a book and I'm not sure what I keep putting that off. I would ask for your prayers today for my life. I don't want to waste my talent and not complete the full task God has chosen for me. I want to be an example of doing my best daily and loving others as Jesus would. Yet, I am not Jesus and I do make mistakes. Mistakes that tend to pop back into my head and it's my choice to cast them far away again. It becomes time to look at life, evaluate it and start again on somethings. Yes, I will start again on that book.
Don't waste your talents either, line them up to the word of God and go for it! I know you can do it.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends!
