: a day set aside for special recognition of working people:
: the first Monday in September observed in the U.S. and Canada as a legal holiday
A day off work for many but not others. As I watch TV I see the Labor Day Sales. That means people do need to work so you can go buy those special things of life. It's also considered the last big get away of Summer. People plan vacations around it, quick trips or just a day with a barbecue with family and friends. Maybe you are not able to get out at all but have the day off. Thinking over other Labor Day adventures and enjoying this day from where you are. It's a way that many people get a break from working from regular jobs and giving thanks.
GOD RESTED ON THE SEVERTH DAY
Genesis 2:2-4 King James Version (KJV)
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
Our bodies do a lot in life and there are time when we must rest. Think about it, if God rested on the seventh day, how much more do we need to rest in who he is to us? A big God who created the heavens and the earth. A big God who created you for this very day of life and seeing how much he has already blessed us. I often forget to thank God for health, strength, wisdom, material things because I'm too busy. I think rest means slow down and see what is around you. Slow down and let God give your body and mind rest.
Romans 12:1-2 New International Version (NIV)
A Living Sacrifice
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
I have found if I don't take care of myself, I can't help anyone else. My body gets tired and I forget that sometimes I am a diabetic. My blood sugar can get crazy and I don't rest. Rest is one thing my body needs and I know that. My mind stays busy and I often put on worship music at night. It helps me think upon the good things of the Lord and my mind goes to rest. Waking up feeling good in the morning and a song in my heart. God has been so good to me and answered so many prayers. Some of those unanswered prayers I still wait on, but waiting is good. Waiting is know it's not quite God's timing and his timing is perfect.
Let us give thanks today for men and women who continue to service us in our communities and country today. My son in law is a police officer and is working today. I have many friends who service our community in different ways today too. A act of service while working for support their families is huge. It would be nice if we just thanked people who are working today while at a store or along our path of whatever we are doing. Giving thanks to others on this Labor Day, while resting in your own body today. Giving thanks to God for created you for purpose and a brand new day.
My thoughts and prayers continue for those who read my blog, your family and friends. It's not just another day but a day to give thanks for and live in it. God is still able to meet you right where you are in life and heal your body, give you a job, a house or whatever your prayer is today. Today could be that miracle day you have been waiting for, HOLD ON FOR IT.
