The Friday before Easter, a holy day of the Christian church, observed as the anniversary of the Crucifixion of Jesus.
I believe the Bible and I believe that Jesus walked this earth. I believe that bad people put him on the cross and tortured him. God's plan was for Jesus to go away and take the sin of this world. There are still people today, who do not know the name of Jesus or his story of salvation. It is up to each of us to carry his story and reach Heaven one day! Who is this Jesus I am talking about and what happen to him on good Friday?
Isaiah 53:3-9 New International Version (NIV)
3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
for the transgression of my people he was punished.
9 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
nor was any deceit in his mouth.
GOOD FRIDAY ~
Is the day that Jesus sacrifices his own life for you and me
After reading these verses over, Jesus wasn't a man who was liked by everyone or believed in him. The verses state that he was cut off from the land of the living. His mother watched and I can't imagine the depth of her sorrow.
JOHN 19:25 (NIV)
25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
JESUS ~ LOVE
Generations later, we still remember the day of the cross with tears and grateful heart. Our sins are forgiven because of Jesus. Our lives are restores and we have another chance. We give thanks for this day and everyday of life. It's not just a one day experience, but a lifetime experience serving God. Thank you JESUS for loving us through it all and giving us freedom from our sins. We remember your sacrifices for each of us.
Let us never forget how far God has brought our lives. We don't need to hang on a cross today, because Jesus did that for us. We have freedom to make right choices and to give praise everyday of our lives. This is a new day filled with hope and seeing that Jesus continues to make a difference in lives. It is a GOOD FRIDAY that Jesus gave his life for each of us. It is a GOOD FRIDAY that we can give back by sharing the love of God through our lives. Each one of us can make a difference in this day and remember Jesus for all he already did for us. Plus, the hope of this new day!
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends!
