Throughout life, we may wonder if we are loved. We might question how come, when or where something might happen. The day I heard that Jesus loves me changed my life. I was just a kid and my friend Connie asked me to go to church with her. My mom usually said no to most things in my younger years, but for some reason, she said I could go. It was there is a small classroom that I heard the teacher speak these words, "JESUS LOVES ME". My ears were wide open and I wanted to know more about this love. I didn't put Jesus in my heart until I was in College years. So much happened between grade school and college.
IT IS NOT A SECRET ~
JESUS LOVES ME AND YOU
Matthew 19:14 New International Version (NIV)
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
I have found that little kids have open minds. They listen, wonder and believe. I believe when I was small that Jesus loves me and I believe that today. I find myself wanting to help at my church and be part of children seeing themselves the way God does. It's hard to be a kid in the year 2018. So much has changed since I was a kid in 1960's. I love to say the words to them, Jesus loves you. I hope those words impacts them as a kid, as much as it did me.
My church Hillside Christian Church in Napa, Ca, has a great children's pastor Stacy Marks. She just had a meeting with all the children's workers and her heart shines through her words. She not only speaks of how Jesus loves you, but brings out the best in children. One thing I remember so clear, my granddaughter (Brookley) was very sick and Stacy called her. She was so happy to hear her pray and Brookley was about 4 years old. The early years makes a big difference in children.
THE GREAT NEWS ~
Jesus isn't just about kids, he loves adults too!
There is a kid inside all of us. I remember wanting to play outside with friends but my mom was afraid I would get hurt. I spent some much time inside, so when I grew up I was determined to have friends and fun. I love having children of my own, grandchildren and working with kids at school too. I believe kids go through so much more than adults realize at times and just seeing a smiling face can make a difference. There is one little boy in Willow's class that smiles overtime I look at him. He thanked me for being in his class. I just try my best to see adults with kids inside too. Adults need to be reminded where God has brought them from in life. Just counting blessings and no issues. Today is a new day and we can begin again in life.
When I go to the dentist, I get really nervous because when I was a kid, I had a root canal and the dentist broke a vile off in my mouth. He told me I was done and had to go to a oral surgeon. I was so scared and it left a big hole in my mouth. My parents didn't have the money to get a bridge put in. My point to this story is this, I would sing JESUS LOVES ME during the scared moments. Once again, stirring up that love I heard about in a Sunday School Class. I continue to love that song now. It brings peace to my mind and my soul.
How about you? Have you gone through things when you just needed to hear JESUS LOVES ME? Are you ready today to let somethings go that you can not change? Life is too short to miss out on living this wonderful life God has given us. We often let others steal out today because we live in yesterdays of life. We must deal with life and make the best of each situation. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
