James 4:8 New International Version (NIV)
Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
COME NEAR TO GOD
AND HE WILL COME NEAR TO YOU
I allow the words of others to hinder my life and I wasn't doing what I knew I should be doing. I had to come near to God and let go of somethings I couldn't change. Helping others in words is important to me. My yes to God has brought so many amazing people into my life. Last night I attended a wedding of my friend Doctor Di. It was on a Wednesday Night that I met her in class. Speedy and I co-lead a class for women for many years. Diana was young (The age of my son) and going through some life changes. She near she had to come near to God. Over time, God would bring the right man into her life and we would celebrate this beautiful wedding.
Life brings us all challenges. Our thoughts are so important and the way we look at things. I was asked to read a prayer at Doctor Di wedding, but I didn't feel qualified. That might sound crazy but it was true. I saw the short prayer (Poem) and Speedy encouraged me to read it. I felt to say yes and I did it. As I read it, I looked into he eyes of Diana and I knew it was important to her. That should have been enough for me to say yes and overcome myself in reading. My granddaughters were watching and Brookley said, "you did good Grammie". At the reception, Mars told me that it meant a lot to them that I read the prayer (Poem). Doing something important for someone else, is more valuable than you might know. A yes goes a long ways.
Letting God use your life in what ever areas he chooses, is such a great feeling. Overcoming yourself, doubts, worries, fears and the list goes on. You will find joy, peace and an overcoming feeling on the other side of that. I am proud of myself today because I have overcame a lot in my life time. It was at the wedding last night that Mars said, "I saw your video jumping in the deep end of the pool and the tubing. Way to go to overcome fear." I never knew he saw it and I was once again proud of myself to overcome the fear of water.
Today message is simple, say YES to some of the things that scare you because God wants to bless you with rewards of words plus actions of others. I am amazed how people care about me and how my life has made a difference. It took me over 50 years to let go of the fear of water. I wish I could have done it years ago, but you know what, I did it now and that's what's important.
Waiting on God for the right man or women to come into your life is a must. Last night at the Wedding, instead of throwing the brides bouquet out, they decided to have all the married couples dance. As you danced, the one left standing with the most years of marriage go the bouquet. They started at 5 years and kept going. People were sitting down at 5, 10, 20, 30, 37 then, Terry and I were the ones who won the bouquet at 40 years of marriage. Wow has it really been that long?
Saying yes to God over 40 years ago for me, but a deep walk with God after my Cabo experience. God has been good to me. I've struggled with self confidence and challenge myself to become better daily. It's hard for some people to believe, but I was shy and withdrawn at a point of my life. Allowing those hurts to consume me and self worth to be gone. Now I am a confident woman of God and sometimes need that extra push to do something. What do you face today and needs a yes in your life? God is waiting for you to completely give him your life and your thoughts. Thoughts are so powerful and can sway us in life.
Philippians 4:13 New International Version (NIV)I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Are you still waiting on some unanswered prayers? Hold on because God's timing is perfect. I have witness this over and over in my life. I am so happy that I said YES to God and continue to learn daily. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. Happy new day!
