James 1:19-27 New International Version (NIV)
Listening and Doing
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. 21 Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. 27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
I HEAR YOU GOD ~
God gave us the Bible as a guide to life. Examples of the past and promises in our lives. One person can reach so many lives. God has a way of connecting us in life and we must listen to each other. In listening, we find ourselves able to give praise or encouragement to another. We can learn to agree to disagree on things too. I given suggestions to others but I don't tell someone what they should do. Some decisions needs to be your own. It's is easier to help when you have gone through so much. I have seen miracles given by God and I have cried over life changes. I choose to learn daily of things I could do different in life.
Let me share verse 19 again from above:
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry
As I help in the granddaughters class at school, I hear this, "when I am speaking, you need to be quiet so you can hear what I am talking about". It makes so much since and I love it. How many times have I been speaking and someone just interrupts me with their own conversation. Adults do this and either someone says oh I am sorry or they just continue to speak. Let us learn to be respectful to others. There is also more one thing, sometimes the person needs to say nothing, because their facial expression tells us so much. Keep your eyes open and see how you can help someone today. Keep your ears open and be there for someone today too.
Each of us have a purpose in this life and we must fulfill that purpose. You were born to be different and to make a difference. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
