I began to read the book, "A Color of His Own" to Willow (my 4 year old granddaughter). Each animal had it's own color, except the Lizard (Chameleons). The story is based around animals and their own unique colors. The Chameleon began to change colors as it was by a different animal. There is more to the story but I want to stop here and focus on fitting in.
Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Throughout the Bible, we can read stories of good and evil. The plan of God unfolds, as the devil goes about trying to destroy. God spoke to people and told them to choose who they will serve. We have choices in one day. It's crazy how I can reflect back and see who when I hung out with certain people, my choices were not so good. It came to a point when I didn't want to be like someone else, but I wanted to be who God called me to better. I wanted to show kindness to others. I had to pick who I would serve, just like you have a choice.
Joshua 24:14-15 (NIV)14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites,in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
I PICK YOU ~ GOD
I am not a super Christian and do everything right. The Bible says that we have all sinned and we must ask forgiveness to God before entering Heaven. As we continue to walk upon this journey God has given us, our example matters. I don't want me to become like me, I want to show the example of Jesus in all I do. Sometimes it is very hard to be that example when your life seems to continue down a path of hurts, disappointments and reminders of life. I purpose to remind myself of how far God has brought my life. Through it all, I've learned to trust in God.
It is important not to compare your life to someone else. Just like within this book I'm talking about today. Each animal had it's own color and was meant to be that way. Each of us are unique and God has his plan for us. Sometimes were are meant to fit in and sometimes we are not meant to fit in. As we begin to pray and seek God, we will find we change. Change is not always easy, but so necessary at times of life. Be yourself, be different and follow the path God has put before you with joy. The joy of The Lord is my strength.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. I thank you for reading this and seeing yourself different. Different as in a good way and stirring up hope in a new day. Go by faith and continue seeing yourself strong and keep learning daily how to better your life. Cast old thoughts off and press forward.
