1 Corinthians 11:1 New International Version (NIV)
1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
I was talking with a friend the other day about church. She no longer goes to church because of hurts, disappointments and lack of caring. Leadership let her down and I understand her story. We must remember that leadership is human and can say words that shouldn't have been said. This holds true in the workplace, with friends and family. Sometimes words come out without thinking things through. Then someone says they are sorry, but it's hard to let go at times.
Hebrews 10:25 New International Version (NIV)
25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Have you ever thought of why you are on earth and the purpose behind it? I have and sometimes I lost my focus on what's important. I got extremely hurt by people in leadership when I was in my 30's. Their words played over and over in my mind. I made a decision to stop church and get away from certain people. That decision was a good decision because they didn't teach the word of God. We must be careful the church we attend and the people we associate with in life. My family and I struggled for almost one year. Church or not church, God or no God. Confusion filled my brain and I watched my family hurt. Until, my husband found a church and asked me to try it.
Going back to church was a good decision. We have to unlearn certain things we were taught. It wasn't easy but we knew it was the right thing to do. It was there that I learned from older women the importance of prayer. The Pastor would leave about a year later and things would change again. Fast forward many years and we now attend a church in Napa Ca. It is called Hillside Christian Church. A younger Pastor who truly teaches the word of God. We have been there for 16 years and God has been good to us. His example is one God, his family and church. We continue to learn and grow in God's ways. We must be careful what we see and how we act in this life. Our examples matter to someone and to the person in the mirror.
New International Version (NIV)
The Lamp of the Body
33 “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. 34 Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. 35 See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. 36 Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.”
Sometimes we get hurt, sometimes we get disappointed and sometimes we stop. We must begin again and now that God is a God of new beginnings each day of life. Don't let your past stop you from pressing forward in life. Life is short and we aren't promised the rest of this day. Share it with those you love and care about. Get over what you can't change and change the things you can.
You were created and designed for this time of life. Let your legacy be one of an overcomer and let God shine through you. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
