This weekend begins thinking about a holiday. July 3rd is here and the 4th of July is tomorrow. Family and friends are making plans for barbecues, lake, parades and outside fun. The end of the 4th will light up the skies for many with fireworks. So much fun and often times of sunburns. Many people have an extra day off of work and we are proud to live in America.
I have found that a holiday brings thoughts to many of us. We remember what we did last year at this time or years past. I find a battle goes on inside of my own mind. The wonder of why things have to change and people move on from our lives. That move can be to Heaven or that move can just be a choice of someone else to move on. Either way, we find our normal being a new normal at times. Change can be good, but also very hard. This weekend could bring a lot of new excitement as well. Just getting ready for the holiday weekend.
Let us not forget what July 4th is all about in America. Independence Day and so many memories of freedom. We are given that freedom in God as well. We have choices of what religion to be, what to believe or not to believe and yet the word of God (Bible) stands true years ago and continues on today. I find it is okay to disagree in life, but not to argue what I believe.
Throughout the Bible, we read of stories of celebrations of many things. I don't think the skies were filled with fireworks, but certainly time of family and friends. God wants our hearts to be filled with hope, joy and peace. A trust that only comes from God and an open door to new thinking.
Romans 15:13 New International Version
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Stay focus on the freedom God has given you this day. A brand new day to celebrate much in. The spirit of the Lord continues. The good news is upon us and it's time to celebrate freedom that we have been given in the physical sense and spiritual sense of life.
Isaiah 61:1-3New International Version
The Year of the Lord’s Favor
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion--
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
As we enter this beautiful holiday weekend, let us celebrate who God made us to be as well. He has created you from before you were born and has a great plan for your life. Don't mess up this weekend by thinking too much about years past. Remembering is great, but also doing new things are important.
My prayers continue for you, your families and friends.
Happy 4th of July weekend
