22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020 ~
When I think of 2020, I think of vision at the eye doctor. That number means you can see good and no need for eye glasses. You have normal vision. Let's go into the new year of 2020 and know that we can see clearly. We are normal and have opportunities to live life to the fullest.
People made promises last night and they are called Resolutions. Some say: I am not going to do this........anymore. Maybe they make a promise to God and then before the year is over, they realized they didn't keep their promise. We say things that just don't come to pass, leaving some regret within side of us. Maybe you made a promise to join a gym or quit doing something. Not everybody makes resolutions, but some of us do this.
The Bible says that the eye of the lamp of the body. Think about that for a moment. We can see things differently and that makes our choices different. It is important to stay health and live according to the word of God. If we see things the way God does, life just is better. I have sometimes missed seeing God's plan and it takes me down a different road of life. It's okay, because God in all his goodness, helps us. I think of it like a detour, but we end result gets me to the right place. I do my best, but I make mistakes. I think I'm doing something good and having fun for someone else, but it brings frustration to some. It's just the truth, not everyone see's the way I do.
The year 2020 also brings new decade of life. I was born in the year 1955 and things in life sure have changed. So many changes for the better, but there are changes that are not so good. I remember my dad saying in 1973 that this world was changing so much. He felt that television was bringing bad things into homes. I can't imagine if he was alive, what he would say if he saw television in 2020 or lived in this year. Let us remember to live the Beatitudes of life.
Matthew 5:1-12 New International Version (NIV)
Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount
Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
The BeatitudesHe said:
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Purpose 2020 your best year ever! You are alive and God has purposed your life for such a time as this! Go about doing what's right and share hope with others. God continues to be the same yesterday, today and forever. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020
