As a kid, I watched families outside and saw how older people came to their houses. I also saw older people at school helping out. Being a kid, my mind wondered but I never knew the depth of a grandparent. Their was a neighbor lady called Granny. She would cook breakfast for my mom and I usually once a week. My mom and her would talk while I sat there. I listen to stories and my mind became full of stories of years ago. Those years ago helps me now as I remember stories. I also know the importance of guarding little ears from things they never need to hear. I remember asking if she was my Grandma and my mom said no, she is just called Granny to you.
Live moves forward and this day is called Grandparents Day. I have the pledge of being a grandma and they call me Grammie. I love it. Even though I don't know the depth of what a grandparent might do, I have chosen to do my best with mine and share Jesus to their hearts. I keep the kid alive inside of me, play at playgrounds, color, share stories and read books. Kids just want love and someone to talk to. Sharing a real experience and being the best example we can be in life. I also share this same actions with kids that are not blood related kids. I love working in kids ministry at our church and sharing a smile goes a million miles.
PROVERBS 22:6 ~
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
I love the song by The Judds who sing, "Grandpa tell me about the good old days". I remember things as a kid and share them now with my grandkids. It's important to teach, guide gently and jus the there. I know people who don't hold the title of Grandparent, but they hold a love inside their hearts of one. They shine brighter than many who have that title. I want to give honor to the people who don't hold that main title in blood, but they certainly do in actions and love.
MISSING LINK ~ generation to generation let us be an example of Jesus. His love that goes further than the sky and deeper than the ocean. I love how God loves me and gives me another chance. I can see me running to him as a kid and asking for help. He gently guides with words from the Bible and lives that are really to surrender their will to his plan. So many kids who live inside of each of us and we push them back. If we could only let the kid come out once in a while and keep an adult attitude. It's okay to play at a park and get off the bench. Our couch "JESUS" loves us and we need to show his love in action. It's okay if you can't play, but can stand close by a swing and talk the child you bring to the park, a family friend or even a little kid by giving a smile.
Generation to generation ~ God is remains the same
Let him connect you today in church, in work and in lives. Ben ready to share hope, the love of God and a smile in this new day. So even if you don't have blood related Grandchildren, there are many kids who don't have grandparents. Share that smile today, because we never know what one person goes through in one day!
I do realize that some memories of grandparents, parents or even the way you grew up can be crazy hard. That missing link is real and you wanted it so bad. That's when we must remind ourselves to live in today and you can make a difference in someone's life today.
My prayers continue for you, your families and friends!
