FATHER'S DAY ~
I remember Terry (the one in the black coat) wanting a son. We had a beautiful little girl and Terry expressed his want for a son too. They are so much alike and yet so different. Chad (the one in the white coat) was experiencing one of the happiest days ever in this picture. His wedding day to Ashley Davidson. A year has past and entering the second year of marriage. Ashley found out she is going to have a baby in December of this year.
Proverbs 22:6 New International Version (NIV)
6 Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.
FATHERS ~
I have found that people have different views of a father. Some fathers were not there for their children. There are a lot of single moms doing the job for mom and dad. There are also many great fathers. The Bible says to train a child in the way he should go. My husband grew up with his grandparents. His grandfather would teach him to work by mowing lawns for things he needed. He taught him about Jesus and the power of God. He knew the holy spirit was real and waited on God to meet his mate. Little did I know, that would be me in 1973.
Terry was a hard worker throughout his life, until retirement. That is when he became such a good grandfather. He loves his grandchildren and spends time with them. He loves taking them fishing, swimming, riding bikes, walks and even special drives in his 1975 chevy truck. I find that our times with our grandchildren is truly a grand time of life.
Our son Chad and daughter in law Ashley, will find out the gender of their baby today. Is the baby a boy or girl? Mixed emotions about that answer and yet a peace knowing God has a plan for this child. He is already the father of two beautiful girls ages 9 and 11. A healthy baby and happy baby is the desires of each of us in our family. Chad is a good dad and excited to meet their baby in December.
Psalm 103:13-14 New International Version (NIV)
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him;
14 for he knows how we are formed,
he remembers that we are dust.
FATHER = GOD
I love how God created each of us for a purpose
I pray today for those who are missing their Fathers. Maybe it is through not being in your life at all, death or other reason. It's hard to celebrate a day that brings sorrow to your minds and hearts. I know this feeling too well since my dad died when I was 18 years old. I have learned to celebrate the time I did have with him. I do have some wish I had moments, but I don't have moments with my dad anymore. So I give God thanks for the 18 years I did have with him. I have learned to pray for others on days with titles. The missing link is often so hard. Yet, nobody can leave our hearts unless we stop thinking about them. I love my dad and he is forever with me. I love God the Father of my life as well. I have many blessings that surround my life and I choose to praise him.
I hope today that Sean (My son in Law) and Chris (Step dad to Brookley and Willow) have an amazing Father's Day too. Sean had three boys before Tracy and him married, plus they have a beautiful little girl. Chris also has twins and a little baby boy with Ashley J after they got married. All the men in my grandchildren's life are great dad's and I can see how they are all different. My grandchildren also have great examples of Grandfathers and a great grandfather Charlie too. Happy Father's Day!
There is one Pastor that sticks out in my mind as a true mentor to me. Pastor Jack Barker who pastored in Pacheco CA. This man and his wife were God's sent to my family. I will forever be grateful for their leadership and love. A man who not only teaches the word of God, but lives it. Happy Father's Day Pastor Barker! I love you forever. A spiritual dad is important as well. They guide you through the word of God (Bible) and you are able to teach others too.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. I hope your father's day is a special one and one of making new memories of this day God has given each of us. Guard your heart, think upon good things and count blessings of life. Happy Father's Day to all, God used the man to create you and you were meant to be here. You are important and here for a greater purpose, never doubt that!
