People search for the right one and want to fill loved. Not everyone enjoys a day called, "Valentine's Day". They might be married and they don't celebrate this day of love. So expectations are high and you get let down fast. Others are single and wishing they had what married people have. Although, nobody really know what goes on behind closed doors.
Valentines Day has changed over time for me. This picture is one of my mom and her boyfriend a few years ago. They used to live in the same independent living place. Then my mom fell on Christmas morning and ended up in a care home. Her boyfriend Irwin, would visit her there. They both were in their 80's when they met. Then one day, Irwin would die and my mom would feel the loss. Then, my mom would die the same year as Irwin. No more time watching the two of them and the cuteness of Irwin playing his harmonica for my mom.
My mom's story is one of sadness but she did have happy moments. My dad would died while she was in her early 40's. My mom became angry at God and mad at him too. She carried them heartache for almost 40years. After she met Irwin, she was ready to begin again. I was happy for my mom and I like seeing her face shine when she saw Irwin. I only wish he hadn't waited so many years to find happiness.
LOVE ~ Is Chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians 13
1 Corinthians 13 New International Version (NIV)
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poorand give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
LOVE NEVER FAILS ~
Purpose to guard your heart and take off expectations of this day!
God can give us love, but let's be honest. Each of us want someone who will love us, connect with us and be our mates in life. Days with titles set us up for expectations too. Let us hold onto verse 13 above: AND NOW these three remain ~ faith, hope and love. But the greatest is love. God will give us the desires of our heart, IF we hold on. Don't rush him or try to handle things on your own. Allow him to connect you to the right person. I find that God is working behind the scenes of all of our lives to connect us with others. I realize it's easy for me to say and harder to do if your waiting on the right person. I do care about the readers of my blog, your family and friends. Plus my prayers are with you too. Purpose this a good day, feel the love of God and rest in knowing he is at work for your best too.
