YOUR EXAMPLE MATTERS
People learn from us and we learn from others
THE JUDDS sing a song called, "Grandpa Tell Me About The Good Old Days". Here are the lyrics:
Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout The Good Old Days)
Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days
Sometimes it feels like this world's gone crazy
And Grandpa, take me back to yesterday
When the line between right and wrong
Didn't seem so hazy
Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And stand beside each other, come what may?
Was a promise really something people kept
Not just something they would say and then forget
Did families really bow their heads to pray
Did daddies really never go away?
Oh, Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days
Grandpa, everything is changing fast
We call it progress, but I just don't know
And Grandpa, let's wander back into the past
And paint me the picture of long ago
Did lovers really fall in love to stay
And…
GRANDPA TERRY ~
He plays with his grandkids, makes them laugh, takes them fishing, play time, church time and love them more than words. He makes mistakes and learns from the mistakes. His example still shines to me as one who loves God and prays for his kids plus grandkids. He was such a hard worker and had to retire on a medical disability. But the one thing I can honestly say, he is a man of faith.
Grandparents have a lot to offer from the past years. Their own decisions of rights and wrongs have lead their journey. I like to sit down and listen to older people. You can hear them say, "THE GOOD OLD DAYS". That means something different to each of us. I like to think of the good old days to be one of learning about Jesus and his walk on this earth. Jesus went about doing his best and allowing God to lead him.
I am now one of those older people in life. I hear younger women says they like to listen to me. It's not because I know it all, it's just who I am. I like to share with younger women but let them make their own decisions. I only give suggestions to them. I help in women's ministry at my church and have found my purpose in sharing Jesus with all ages. I have found God faithful to my family and myself. I've seen miracles and been through a lot of change in life. Terry has stood faithful beside me and prayed with things didn't make sense. I often forget how he is a man of prayer because I can get caught up in a circumstance of life. I know he is a man of prayer and one you want on your side too. Thank you God for giving me Terry and joining our lives together in 1973 as friends. We married in 1977 and became parents in 1980 and grandparents in 2009 with our first beautiful granddaughter Brookley. The list of grandchildren has continued and we are so happy.
GRANDPA ~ Tell your grandchildren about the power of God and all the miracles you have seen. Your example is one of man of God and stepping up to shine for each of them. This holds true for myself too. My own example matters not only to my grandchildren but to other children. I love helping at the kids school and one girl in Brookley's class asked can you be my grandma, I don't have one. Wow, I remember wanting a grandparent when I was in about 4th grade. I see how the circle of wants comes back around. I also love helping in kids ministry at my church.
GRANDPA ~ GRANDMA
We continue to learn daily and do our best to shine. I truly know what the word GRAND is before the word PA or MA. Our choices affects our grandkids and we must purpose good decisions. Teaching and leading them to have faith, hope, love, peace and good things of life. The bibles says:
PSALM 37:4 ~ Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. If you didn't have grandparents like me, or if your not a grandparent, just know that you can like one to others. I have found this statement so true. God does give us the desires of our heart and able to help in all situations of life. Purpose tis a good day.
