Mark 15:41-47 New International Version (NIV)
41 In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.
The Burial of Jesus
42 It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. 44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. 45 When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.47 Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where he was laid.
GOOD FRIDAY ~
People were sad and crying over the death of Jesus. A man who went about doing good and people would receive miracles. God's plan was death, but actually life. Jesus died for each of us to live by God's plan too.
Good Friday is day of many tears and trusting God's plan of what was next. Giving thanks to God for giving us life and guiding our lives. As we open the Bible, we see the beginning of creation and we read about the end of it. The goal of Heaven one day and do our best daily to become a better person on earth. Our example will last far after we are in Heaven too.
Have you ever wondered why Jesus had to die on the cross and not just go in a less painful way? I certainly have wondered that, but I know it was God's plan. After the day of Jesus handing on the cross and they put him in a tomb, he rose again. God shows his power to us by death and then life. The power of people praying and asking God to keep Jesus alive. The power of God and then sending his holy spirit to guide us. Jesus had a purpose walking this earth and then leaving.
EASTER TIME ~
Death of Jesus, life of Jesus and freedom
Easter is also thought of Easter Bunnies, basket, eggs and time with family. When we become a Christian, we find that Easter comes to be much more than that. It is truly about watching kids hunt eggs too and sharing time, but let us not forget Jesus who died for us and new beginnings can happen. We have a choice to live for God or not. We have a choice to live in kindness or not. We have choices daily to make our lives better.
Jesus life story is one we can read about and live out. Taking on his character and helping others. Going about doing what God has called you to do in life. Sometimes the little things make such a big difference to someone. Maybe a text message, a call or just sharing coffee time. Give thanks to God today for his only son and your life. We are here on purpose and that's the truth. God doesn't make mistakes and your life is important. You shine brighter than you might realize too.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
