- : the Friday before Easter observed in churches as the anniversary of the crucifixion of Christ and in some states of the U.S. as a legal holiday
BIBLE ~
John 19:16-18 (NIV)
Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.
The Crucifixion of Jesus
So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17 Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
GOOD FRIDAY ~
Generations to generations, we have heard about this day. Jesus would carry his own cross until he couldn't do it anymore. Then a disciple would pick it up and continue. Jesus hung upon a cross and died for the sins of others. The Bible speaks of the complete day of how his mother watched and the town too. Some excited that he hung there and others who cried. The pain that must have been in their hearts, because it hurts mine to know he hung there.
I have been in church and watched plays about this day. My son (Chad) played Jesus one year and he had them actually hit him. On each swing on that whip, I cried. I saw my son get hurt and it was only a play. I tried to put myself in the place of Mary (Jesus mother) and just the pain of watching an actor, was hard. My son wasn't hit hard, but his tears were real. He said he put himself in the mind frame of how Jesus must have felt. It was an amazing play that year and yet so real. Jesus didn't just die for people generations ago, but for each of us today. We have so much to be grateful for in life and one day a year we are reminded of the depth of the story of Jesus.
If you haven't asked Jesus into your heart, please do so. You only need to ask forgiveness of your sins and turn from your old ways. New ways of reading God's word (Bible), seeing yourself the way God does and finding a Bible based church. If you live in the Napa area and don't have a home church, please try mine:

We have a Good Friday service starting at 7pm to 8:30pm. Our Sunday Easter Service has 3 to choose from 9am, 11am or 6:30pm.
I appreciate your taking the time to read my blog and sharing it with your friends. Good Friday is a day to remember what Jesus did and continues to do daily for us. Forgiveness of sin and new beginnings happen. Sin is sin and God forgives us for our mistakes in life.
I would like to take speak to the people who have got hurt in church, please try again. I got hurt before years ago and thought I would never go back. I realize that people are people and often say wrong things to us. God speaks life to us and finding that right church for you, can take time. When I began again, I let go of the things I couldn't change and I changed the things I could. God lead me into a ministry of new beginnings through this blog called you don't even know! If I had never tried again, I wouldn't be who I am today. I choose to forgive, as Christ forgave me.
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
