Luke 6:12-16 New International Version (NIV)
The Twelve Apostles
One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God. 13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: 14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, 15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, 16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.
FRIENDSHIP EXAMPLES ~
Jesus called them by name
I like how Jesus knew the importance of people being different. Each person had their own talent and gift given by God. The ability to serve and go about doing the will of his father. I have wondered what they might have talked about or the excitement that was felt when a miracle took place. The friendship that was developed over time and trusting each other. Have you ever had that friend who just trusted? You know, the one you could count on in life? I certainly have and I thank God for real friendships.
There were elven disciples who stood faithful with Jesus, but there was one who betrayed him. I have one person from my past who said these words to me, "I will never forgive you". I never understood what I did and I say these words, "Please forgive me, I'm not sure what I did". That person said, "never". Life moves on and I sometimes think of those words and it hurts my heart when I can't fix something, but I've learn to let it go over life.
Each of our examples goes further than we might realize. Just like Jesus, we count on him to answer our prayers and to help us even today. His example shines with acts of kindness and going to his father in prayer. Sometimes we must go to our own mountain to pray and seek God. Coming back a different person because we learn through our own mistakes of life. Jesus went away just for you and me. He knew he had to fulfill his father's plan of forgiveness and new beginnings.
REAL FRIENDSHIP ~
Real love is given by God and he connects us to others.
In my head and heart, I try hard to treat others the way I would like to be treated. There is no motive other than following the example of Jesus and living a life of kindness. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends. I am glad you read my blog and hope you pass it forward. There are different types of friendships, but they have a form of trust in them. Whether we tell someone something or not, we know we can trust that person at some level. Life is short and purpose time with family plus friends. After all, God is developing each of us into his character daily if we allow him.
