FRIDAY THE 13TH ~

This day called Friday the 13th has been known as a bad luck day. It is also a scary day for some.  I was a small child and my mother hated this day.  She said that nothing good could come from it.  She spoke of things that made fear grip my heart as a child. Her birthday even fell on this day once in a while and she hated that too.  There was a movie titled Friday the 13th and it was a scary movie.  A movie that made fear come and I never wanted to watch it.  The Bible says:

2 Timothy 1:7 King James Version (KJV)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

As I grew older, I realized that my mom was very superstitious and looked for bad things to happen.  The thoughts I grew up with are not actually true.  Friday the 13th is just another day that God created and we should find the good in it.   I am a person who likes to think upon the good things God has already done and celebrate life not fear. Things happen to each of us and we can't help some things, but we can help living in fear. If God hasn't given us the spirit of fear, then it must come from the enemy of our soul.

I know that some people really like scary movies and Halloween.  I get scared easy and I just don't like being scared.  I think that comes from being a child who was always scared of things and live in fear of bad things happening.  Now as an adult, I can live in the peace of God and know that I don't need to put fear into my heart.  Simply my choice and your choice if you want it.

Proverbs 12:25 New International Version (NIV)25 Anxiety weighs down the heart,
but a kind word cheers it up.

1 Peter 5:6-7
 New International Version (NIV)
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

As this new day begins, remember to count blessings of life.  Look for the good in people and the good in a new day.  Life is short and we waste time thinking about things that don't really matter.  Sometimes we think about things we can't do nothing about in life.  Living in the freedom of God and his ways is your choice daily.  We can cast all our cares upon God and he will handle our day just fine.

I ask my granddaughter Brookley about this day called Friday the 13th.  She said it is known as the scariest day on earth.  I don't know how you feel about this day, but know it's a good day too.  I'm all about the good and will purpose this a good day.  My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.  Please trust the Lord with all your heart and know that God is right here to help you in all ways.
