I remember my first experience of Church and it wasn't good. It seemed like a lot of people jumping up and down, plus loud. I didn't understand their behavior because I was just a kid. I didn't understand worship, praise or even coming together for God. Why do they raise their hands and no one calls on them? I was taught in school to raise your hand and the teacher would call when it's your turn. Just thoughts that went through my head as a kid. So my first impression wasn't a good one, because it scared me. Over time, I would go back and God would gently grab my heart to want to know more about it. Actually, to want to know more about him.
FIRST IMPRESSION ~
Kindness is always seen by me in first impression. The way people speak to me or react when I say somethings or meet someone. There are times when I must guard my heart, because people don't always understand my kindness and think their is a motive behind it. There is no motive other than wanting to be kind and express myself that way daily. It just becomes my choice. However, I don't know like it when people treat disrespectful and I go back to that kid moment of thoughts. I never felt respected as a kid. When someone ask you, what do you want and then you tell them, but it doesn't happen. Maybe just to be quiet and you feel as if you have no voice. Whether it is the first impression or second or third, we should treat others with gentle words and kindness.
In the Bible, there is a young boy named David. He attended sheep and God knew his heart. He had a bigger purpose for his life than just attending sheep. God looked inside his heart and opened amazing doors for him. Even those David story would appear with sin and mistakes, God still used his life after he asked forgiveness. It all begin as a little shepherd boy and now God wants David to be king.
1 Samuel 16 New International Version
Samuel Anoints David
16 The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”
2 But Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me.”
The Lord said, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’3 Invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what to do. You are to anoint for me the one I indicate.”
4 Samuel did what the Lord said. When he arrived at Bethlehem, the elders of the town trembled when they met him. They asked, “Do you come in peace?”
5 Samuel replied, “Yes, in peace; I have come to sacrifice to the Lord. Consecrateyourselves and come to the sacrifice with me.” Then he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 When they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the Lord’s anointed stands here before the Lord.”
7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.” 9 Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.” 10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.” 11 So he asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?”
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
12 So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David. Samuel then went to Ramah.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS ~
Be careful how you view people in life. God has a bigger plan and we don't always know the inside story of a heart. I'm thankful that God looks upon the heart. I've had people judge me because of where I lived or my appearance. It's not a great feeling when someone thinks you are not smart enough or good enough in life. God never tells us that, he never tells us we are not enough. God is a God who created you and knows your heart.
Look into a mirror today and speak words of encouragement. The plan might not look so good today, but it's a new day and we never know what might happen. A plan that opens doors by God and created money when unexpected. Created a new job, new friends, and amazing thoughts can run through your heart. The Lord would say, "RISE UP and KNOW I AM THE ONE WHO WHO CREATED YOU". His first impression of you was made before you were born.
Psalm 139:13-16New International Version (NIV)13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
Happy new day to you and my prayers continue for you, your family and friends!
