23 The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.
FIRM STEPS ~
Watching a baby take first steps is so exciting. One step will lead to another but it takes a little more time for a full walk. There is a process is walking. I remember the time my mom broke her hip when she was in her early 80's. It was Christmas morning and it felt so sad in many ways. She couldn't walk and needed therapy to walk again, but her insurance stopped her from getting full help. The care home said they could't help in that way anymore and she was forced into a wheel chair for life. No more steps for her and it broke my heart. I wished I had more money so I could get her the help she needed. After she entered Heaven in less than one year, I remember saying she had freedom now to walk around Heaven. We go through things that make sense and that doesn't make sense to our brains. I had to tell myself I did my best for her but it sometimes replays in my head years later.
Psalm 37:23 tells us to delight in the Lord and he will make firm our steps. I love this because knowing God is with me each step of the way is important. God knows we will stumble at times, but God will uphold us. I feel hope when I read this scripture above. There are so many scriptures we can use to spur us on in life.
1 Corinthians 15:58 "Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord".
Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.
Hebrews 10:24-25 New International Version (NIV)
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
FIRM STEPS ~
Be confident in who you are in life. God has created you for a bigger purpose than you might realize. People watch out lives and forms first impressions of us. Hopefully that first impression is a good one and shines. As I grow older, I hope I have another day of life and do my best in it. One in which I can spur someone else on to trust the Lord and live by faith. To lead by example and hope that others knows I am human too. I was thinking last night about how I asked God for things and then like a little kid, request more. I remember saying If God would do this for me, I will do what God called me to do. Am I doing that now? I totally believe I am doing that to the best of my ability. Learning to lean not to my own understanding on some things and trusting God through each day of life.
I hope you will enjoy this day that God has made. It's good to stand firm in the Lord and it's good to stay still to count blessings. My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
