Hebrews 12:1-3 The Message (MSG)
Discipline in a Long-Distance Race
1-3 Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!
Now read the same scripture in the NIV version of the Bible:
Hebrews 12:1-3 New International Version (NIV)Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow wearyand lose heart.
RUN THIS RACE OF LIFE WITH PERSEVERANCE ~
God's plan was never to make you feel not good enough. We often compare our lives to others who seem to have it all. I've done this myself for many years and even today some thoughts of yesterdays came rushing back. The Bible tells us to cast down imaginations. You know those thoughts that just pop up and you need to rethink somethings in life. Im guilty of comparing my life to someone else and things they have in their lives. Some people don't appear to be satisfied with what they have in life. They are constantly moving to the next thing to buy or to do. If they could just rest and enjoy the things they do have in life.
FEELINGS ~ EMOTIONS
Can make us miss out on things in life. Maybe you don't feel worthy or qualified to do something. Walk in confidence of who you are in God and who he is in your life. John 3:16 is our beginnings and promise of our end.
John 3:16-17 New International Version (NIV)For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
God should be first in our lives and we are first in his life. He created each of us for a bigger plan than defeat or failure. He rises us above that and promises us greater things in life. Looking at yourself as important and valuable is a daily thing to do. Don't compare your life to anyone but the person you see in the mirror. Grow stronger, more confident and ready to live in joy daily. If you are going through some hard things today, know that I care and my prayers are truly with the readers of my blog, your family and friends. Purpose this a good day!
