Trusting God is a choice given to each of us. There are times that do scare us and we must remind ourselves who is in charge. I find that we learn over days of life how to breathe through situations that are hard. It's not always easy facing a new day with yesterdays thoughts. It's not easy to breathe through the worse news ever. It becomes a choice to lean upon God and take his word as truth. Someone watches your life and we can look back at many people in the Bible to see this to be true. Lets talk about Moses and then Joshua today.
Joshua 1:1-9 New International Version (NIV)
Joshua Installed as Leader
After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
FEAR NOT ~
Just as Moses was used by God and his life planned out, so was Joshua's life. God told him to fear not and he continue to tell us to fear not. Think about it for a minute, if you knew Moses and his life (ministry) would you want to be the one to follow that? I think of Moses and the burning bush, he was so close to God. Now Joshua was going to follow a man of God and allow God to use him. I wonder what his thoughts were at time. We don't know the complete stories but the highlights of a life.
How about us? We can hold onto the promises of God for our lives too. Things begin to unfold and the plan is happening. Our hearts changes, as we a closeness to God develops. We will not always understanding everything and that's where trusting comes in. I trust God with all my heart and God speaks of not leaning to our own understanding. Moses might not have known he would see a burning bush, but knew he was to go to a secret place with God. He obeyed what God told him. Are you doing what God has called you to do or still thinking about it?
Speak theses words, "I will be strong and courageous". Our words matters and what we say to ourselves is so important. I can face some fears of life, but I face it knowing God has this. I face it knowing that God is bigger than the enemy of my soul. I face it knowing that today I am an overcomer of all things and my choices matter.
Let's remember this Bible verse 9 above:
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
My prayers continue for you, your family and friends.
