Ephesians 6:1-4 New Living Translation (NLT)
Children and ParentsChildren, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. 2 “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: 3 If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
FATHER'S DAY ~
God is our father that teaches through the Bible
Some of us had or have the best dad, while some of us did not. Memories of tears, joys and moments can flood our soul on this day with a title. God's word speaks of the children should obey their parents. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. So many scriptures of teaching, learning and growing daily. People can often disappoint us by their actions or even their lack of actions. That's where we must guard our hearts.
FATHER'S DAY 1973 ~
It would be the last father's day I would see my dad alive.
I think of my dad today and my eyes are full of tears. I was only 18 when he died suddenly inside our home. He was in his early 50's. Life would change and I would grow weary from grief. Knowing my dad was gone and my mom wanted to die. I did not live knowing Jesus in my heart yet. My mom was in her early 40's and just stopped living in the now. She lived in the past, had regrets and wanted to die. My dad was a young christian and did his best to do the right thing. One day a visiting preacher came to the church he attended. His words were along the line of this: if you love God, you will give up your medication. My dad did love God and he gave up his medication. Unfortunately, he had sugar diabetes and needed to take shots daily. In stopping this, it sent him into a heart attack and he never recovered.
What did this do a teenager? I grew angry at God and wanted my dad back. I would stand on the porch of our house and wait for him to pull around the corner. Somethings in life happen and we are left with our own thoughts. I have learned to teach through heart break. It's not okay to stop medication if your body needs it. I know my dad had a choice but he was knew to church and believed the man instead of researching things. Not everyone who preaches, preaches the truth. The man who lived next door was named Tom. He came running over to help open the bathroom door. By the time everything ended, my dad was gone to Heaven. Right before my eyes, were things I saw and I still remember fresh today. Tears of pain of it all, tears of joy of having a good day and a mixture of why God and really?

FATHER"S DAY ~
A day to remember the greatness of God. Maybe life hasn't turned out the way I thought, but it certainly has been full of blessings. My thoughts and prayers are with you today. Some of you are grieving, some smiling and some a mixture of both can be happening. For over 45 years I have visited my dad's grave on this day and left flowers. I still talk to him and miss him greatly. My dad (Ed) fought in world war II. He was a man who made a difference and walked by faith at the end of my days on earth. I'm happy he knew God and did his best. I have one picture of my brother on a bike, be behind him and my dad behind me. A father's love was real and I have learned over many years of life, to give praise to a God. I have learned to walk in the truth (Bible) and reschedule things myself.
I hope this day we call Father's Day, brings joy to your heart, peace to your mind and new memories of what God can do in this day!
